What's New for 2023!

The art world seemed to return to a more normal state in 2022 and high hopes continue to see this trend continue into 2023. Unfortunately many of our friends and colleagues have been forced into retirement or just got too tired to keep up the routine. They will be missed at our shows and all the others.

Most show are back up and running, though there are many that have not returned or are still operating at pre-Covid levels with many still producing smaller versions of previous shows.

With all this said, we too are still struggling to get all our shows back on our schedule. As of the middle of October, we have only gotten comitment from our Green Valley location for all show dates in 2023. We are still hopefull that the DesertFest Events will return in 2023, but we still have no firm decision on them yet. We will keep in touch with you all as we learn more about our schedule.

I KNOW WE ARE SOUNDING LIKE A BROKEN RECORD HERE, BUT ONCE AGAIN, NO FEE CHANGES FOR 2023! We continue to work with the property management groups where we show to hold the line on our show fees! Some of the lowest fees in the state!

OUR SHOW FEES ARE AMONG THE LOWEST OUT THERE AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO ALLOW ONLY FINE ARTS AND CRAFTS IN OUR SHOWS. NO BUY SELL OR IMPORT ITEMS ARE EVER ALLOWED IN OUR SHOWS!

Here are a few points to keep in mind when comparing our shows with others:

1:  We use ads in local newspapers, send out email blasts to all homes in the communities for every show we do and use beautiful street signs and banners to direct the public to our show location.

2:  All DesertFest events are advertised all over the state on TV, radio and state wide newspapers.

3:  We provide more booth space at no additional cost to you. No fee for corner locations.

4:  We provide enough space to display your work on the outside walls, and most shows have room for storage of extra artwork or inventory or sales areas, behind the booth.

5:  Setups and take downs are much easier because most of our shows allow for drive up room, or a very short carry distance.

6:  We have spent considerable time researching and securing profitable show locations. Our show sites are in affluent communities containing a large amount of people who own second homes.

7:  Although we have plenty of available space in our shows, we limit the number of booths to create the best sales environment possible for each of our artists, while still drawing the buying public with plenty of choices.

8:  We NEVER oversell a show or oversell a particular category; we want every artist to have the best chance at having great sales and we never allow buy sell or import work in our shows!

Thanks to all who do our shows, and for spreading good words about them.  I constantly get new artists inquiring about future shows; most tell me one of you told them to call!

Here’s wishing all of us a great 2023 season!     Alan & Vickie Smith
